AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Beautiful Murano vase designed by Vittorio Zecchin. Vittorio Zecchin (Murano, May 21, 1878 – Murano, April 15, 1947) was a prominent Italian artist, painter and goldsmith who, during World War I, increasingly focused on applied art. He established a studio for tapestries and embroidery and began experimenting with glasswork.

In 1921 he was appointed as the very first artistic director of the legendary glass factory Vetri Soffiati Muranesi Cappellin Venini & C.

From that time onward Zecchin designed ultrathin, transparent and monochrome blown glass. His minimalist, geometric designs – often inspired by 16th-century Venetian paintings – broke radically with the heavy, overdecorated tradition of the late 19th century. His best-known design from this period is the Veronese Vase (1921).

The vase offered here is a variation on that.
