MAUL Bilateral Postal Scale, a German mechanical office scale from the 1950s with a brass body and white enamel base, in good used condition with minor age-related marks and in working order.
Description from the seller
Splendid antique mechanical postal scale produced by the renowned German company Philipp Jakob Maul, known for its innovative patented mechanism "Bilateral".
Model features
• Double dial (Bilateral): This ingenious design eliminates the need for removable separate weights. The scale uses two counterbalanced movable arms that work in sync:
• The lower dial precisely measures lighter weights from 0 to 100 grams (with marks for every single gram).
• The upper dial comes into play for heavier objects, measuring from 0 to 500 grams (with marks every 5 grams).
• Materials: It is built with a solid brass mechanical frame and a white enamelled metal base, typical of office versions produced around the 1930s to the 1960s.
• Brand: The name "MAUL" stamped on the left brass arm certifies its authenticity.
• On the back the inscription NIET VOOR HANDELSDOELEIND meaning "Not for commercial purposes"
