AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Decorative bombé commode in Louis XV style. It has a serpentine, swelling front and curved sides and stands on shaped bracket feet with scalloped aprons. The piece is finished in deep bottle-green paint or lacquer. Every surface is hand-painted with bouquets of roses and wildflowers: the top, all drawer fronts, the centre panels and both sides. Gilt acanthus scrollwork runs along the stiles, the drawer surrounds and the aprons. The top also has gilt trellis corner motifs. The front has drawers arranged in three rows, each with an ornate brass swan-neck bail handle. The back is painted plain green.

Material: lacquered wood, brass hardware.

Good used condition with wear consistent with age and use. There is paint loss and chipping at the bottom of the feet, especially the front and rear corners, where lighter wood/ground shows through. The top has light scratches, rubbing and small areas of paint wear on the floral decoration. There are minor scuffs to the gilt edges and some scratches on the back. The handles are all present and intact. Please see photos for details.
