A hand-signed patinated terracotta Art Deco sculpture by Belgian sculptor Johannes Dommisse (1878–1955), titled Moeder & kind, with the work measuring 33 cm high on a square Portoro marble plinth and weighing about 8.5 kg.

Rarely beautiful large powerful and expressive detailed terracotta Art Deco statue/sculpture, depicting an Art Deco lady/mother with child on a polychrome Portoro marble square plinth, designed by Johannes Dommisse, Belgian Sculptor 1878-1955.
This is an exceptionally executed statue with stunning attention to detail.
Johannes Dommisse contributed to the Berlage bridge in Amsterdam and also designed a fronton for the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
Works by him are in several museums (e.g. Gemeentemuseum Arnhem, Centraal Museum Utrecht).
He is listed among others in "Beeldhouwkunst in België vanaf 1830"
At the back signed 'J. Dommisse' and numbered '2529' – Made in Belgium
The statue is in good condition with minimal signs of wear. (see photos)
