Origin: Italy; Model: Kalos Edizioni Tessili art tapestry, a vintage flat-woven Kilim, 110 × 175 cm, in excellent condition and never used, dating to the 1970s–1980s.
Description from the seller
Exclusive vintage flat-weave art rug (Kilim), made by the renowned Italian manufactory "Kalós Edizioni Tessili".
The piece stands out for a refined asymmetric design of clearly modernist and abstract-organic origin. On a cream background, blue-toned compositions float, enclosing coral and dark blue graphic and geometric modules, resembling stylized letters of the alphabet or biomorphic elements.
The pattern is not geometrically mirror-symmetric: the rug has a single direction of compositional reading, a detail typical of tapestry cartoons conceived by visual artists and avant-garde designers of the period.
The central composition is framed laterally and at the ends by a thick geometric wavy border in a warm ocher yellow tone, completed by natural fringes on the short sides.
Thanks to its versatile dimensions of about 110 x 175 cm and its strong graphic impact, this piece is ideal both as a floor rug for interiors of mid-century modern and Scandinavian design, and to be hung on the wall as a contemporary art tapestry.
1960s-1980s.
