Description from the seller
Beautiful decorative sculpture depicting an Oriental dancer in the style of Demetre Chiparus (1886–1947), undisputed master of chryséléphantine Art Deco sculpture, whose original works are today kept in the world's greatest museums.
This high-quality decorative reproduction captures the artist's iconic stylistic codes in a composition of rare intensity: the dancer is caught in a low, dynamic, almost acrobatic pose, one knee on the ground, torso leaning forward, and both arms extended outward in a striking balance. The orientalist costume is of exceptional decorative richness — entirely covered with raised motifs in gold, silver and burgundy, crescents, beads and scales covering this figure from head to toe with remarkable precision and sophistication. The face and hands are rendered in light ivory resin, imitating the original chryséléphantine technique.
The sculpture rests on an elegant stepped black marble base, characteristic of the Art Deco style.
Material: Bronze with multicolored patina (gold, silver, burgundy), ivory resin
Base: Rectangular stepped black marble
Style: Art Deco, in the Chiparus style
Theme: Oriental dancer, ballet, ceremonial costume
Type: Decorative reproduction
Condition: Very good condition
