A lot of three items linked to the Spanish royal house, comprising a 1946 typed political document with twelve institutional bases for restoring the monarchy, an autograph-signed greeting card with a photograph by the Counts of Barcelona, and a gala photograph of Don Juan de Borbón in full dress uniform.
Description from the seller
Exceptional lot linked to the Spanish Royal House and to the pretender to the throne Don Juan de Borbón y Battenberg, Count of Barcelona.
The set consists of:
Historical typed political document (5 full pages): Contemporary copy of the “Institutional Bases of the Monarchy” (Bases de Estoril), dated in Estoril February 28, 1946. The header text reads verbatim: “Note delivered by Don Juan to the Spanish Ambassador in Portugal on the last February 28 so that it could be officially transmitted to the Generalissimo.” It constitutes Don Juan de Borbón’s political proposal to restore the monarchy in Spain after World War II through twelve institutional bases.
It presents a model of a representative, Catholic, and moderate monarchy governed by laws and ethical limits, articulating an executive power with responsible ministers, an independent judiciary with guarantees of unconstitutionality, a Royal Council of advisory, and Cortes formed partly by direct popular suffrage and partly by corporate and territorial representation.
Greeting card with original handwritten signatures and photograph: Handwritten card of thanks and New Year’s (1982-1983) signed in the hand by the Counts of Barcelona: “María” (María de las Mercedes de Borbón-Dos Sicilias) and “Juan” (Don Juan de Borbón).
Gala photograph. Official portrait of Don Juan in gala uniform as Captain General of the Navy and the Golden Fleece.
A must-have piece for collectors of contemporary Spanish history, the Transition, militaria, and autographs of the Spanish monarchy.
Original documents and in excellent condition.
Beautiful items of collection and history of Spain.
Period original. Excellent piece with no reserve price. Great opportunity.
