Description from the seller
The first image is for illustrative purposes; please refer to the other photographs.
Elegant pair consisting of a console table and a coordinated wall mirror, crafted in the Louis XVI / neoclassical style and characterized by rich ornamental metalwork.
The console features a slender framework supported by four tall fluted legs, terminating with small feet. The perimeter frieze is finely pierced with a succession of vegetal and ornamental motifs, enriched at the front by an elaborate central decorative element.
The corners are outlined by rectangular raised decorative appliqués. The structure preserves a finish in bronze/golden tones with patina and color variations due to age.
The console is completed by a natural light marble top, shaped along the profile and featuring evident gray, pink and brown veining.
The coordinated wall mirror repeats the same decorative motifs as the console, with fluted vertical supports, ornamental corner appliqués, a pierced frieze and a rich central neoclassical crown.
The glass of the mirror currently present is not original: it was substituted in a later period with a modern mirror, also recognizable by the floral decorations on the surface. The back has accordingly been altered/adapted to allow mounting.
From stylistic and constructive characteristics, the ensemble is indicative of the XIXth century, likely the early part of the century, following Louis XVI and neoclassical models. The dating is proposed as an estimate and is not supported by documentation or certain attribution. No marks or signatures were identified that would allow a more precise dating or attribution at present.
Condition report
The set is offered in its current state, with patina, oxidation, wear, scratches, finish variations and other signs compatible with age and use.
The console structure shows breaks and damaged parts in the pierced metal decoration, clearly documented in the photographs. Further small losses, deformations, old interventions or defects consistent with the nature and age of the object may be possible.
As already indicated, the mirror is a modern replacement and the back of the wall mirror has been modified for mounting.
The object has not been disassembled nor subjected to invasive interventions to verify its internal construction. It is therefore recommended to carefully examine all photographs, which are an integral part of the description and document the actual state of conservation.
Console dimensions:
height 81 cm; width 96 cm; depth 25 cm.
Mirror dimensions:
height 98 cm; width 59 cm; depth about 5 cm.
