AI-assisted summary
Description from the seller
Yamaha CDC-685 advanced 5-disc carousel compact disc changer, designed and built by Yamaha Corporation (circa 2001–2004). Technically in 100% good, functional condition (fast disc recognition, smoothly rotating carousel and trouble-free track switching) and optically in nice condition with light signs of use consistent with age.
For audiophiles who want musical comfort without compromising sound quality, the CDC-685 is one of the most premium changers Yamaha has ever produced. The unit features the famous PlayXchange mechanism: this allows the carousel drawer to be opened to swap four CDs while the fifth disc continues to play uninterrupted. Internally the device uses Yamaha’s patented PRO-Bit technology (Precision Reproduction of Original Bits) and high-quality DAC architecture. This ensures an extremely linear signal processing and faithful reconstruction of the finest micro-details from the 16-bit audio signal.
In terms of sound, the player delivers a dynamic, open and spacious stereo image with tight bass and refined highs without digital harshness. In addition to the standard analogue RCA outputs, the CDC-685 is equipped with an optical digital Toslink output for direct connection to an external DAC or high-end amplifier. On the front there is a clear display, direct disc-selection buttons, and an adjustable headphone output.
