Rare Vintage Industrial Refrigerator with 4 Doors “Ortofrigor” - 1940s/1950s - For Restoration

Description:

Splendid and authentic piece of industrial archaeology: a large commercial four-door refrigerator, brand “Ortofrigor,” likely dating from the mid-twentieth century (1940s–50s).

This imposing piece of furniture, once the beating heart of a shop or restaurant, preserves all the charm of its history. It is built with a sturdy metal frame painted in a characteristic vintage beige-pink color. It features four separate doors, each with its own handles and heavy metal hinges, proof of its solid and functional construction.

Key Details:

Brand: On the upper right part of the unit the elegant original metal logo “Ortofrigor” is clearly visible, fixed with screws.

Structure: Four independent compartments. Inside, the compartments retain the original wooden slat shelves, and in one of them there are still metal hooks for hanging cured meats or meats, along with old canvas bags (as visible in the photos).

External Condensing Unit: A major point of interest for collectors and enthusiasts is the presence of the original mechanical refrigerating unit (compressor/motor), located on the top of the unit. It is a complex and fascinating mechanical piece, fully exposed, with clear signs of age and corrosion that emphasize its authenticity.

Condition: The refrigerator is in restoration-worthy condition. The exterior paint shows scratches, flaking, stains, and rust bloom. The wooden and metal base shows clear signs of deterioration and prior corrosion (as shown in the photo details). The interior also requires cleaning and restoration. The mechanical unit has not been tested and should be considered non-operational, sold as a display piece or for parts.
