Pair of coordinated fresco strips depicting floral compositions, unsigned, in excellent condition, each panel 62 cm high and 31.5 cm wide, of Italian origin in the Art Nouveau style with marouflage technique, original edition, sold with frames by owner or dealer.
Description from the seller
Pair of authentic torn fresco fragments with coordinated floral paintings - Chateau Style / French Elegance - First half of the 20th Century
Rare and exceptional pair of coordinated fresco fragments (pendants), depicting two rich floral compositions executed by the same hand. This pair represents a highly charming furnishing element, ideal for interior design projects in the “French Elegance” style, Gustavian, or to enhance contemporary spaces thanks to its strong tactile impact.
The two panels offer floral compositions closely connected in style and color palette, but enriched by variants and unique details that testify to their entirely artisanal craftsmanship and avoid the monotony of mass-produced reproductions. Both bouquets are characterized by the elegant interweaving of shaded roses, daisies, buds, and wild Campanulae arranged vertically.
The nature of an authentic wall tear is clearly documented by the irregular surface characteristics. Under grazing light the natural irregularities of the material and the structural “step” where the original plaster connects to the rougher background are clearly visible. The refined color palette with matte mineral pigments (powder pink, powder blue, ochre and sage green).
The wall fragments were historically consolidated on a protective jute canvas (visible along the rear edges) and mounted inside solid, rough-sawn wooden backing panels, enclosed within their coordinated period frames.
Excellent condition for this type of artifact. The plaster is solid and stable. It presents a magnificent, genuine patina of time that certifies its historical authenticity (examine details in the photos).
