Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
A large solid wood frame with rich high-relief decorations in plaster, dating from 1910–1920, in good used condition with age marks, external dimensions 80.5 x 70 x 9 cm (internal 60 x 50 cm).
Description from the seller
Impressive frame made of solid wood, covered with rich and dense high-relief decorations and plaster. Suggestive, beautiful in form and appearance, it is characterized by an extraordinary stage presence; the most precious element lies in the complexity and symmetry of its ornamental apparatus.
At the center of each side and in the four corners, splendid symmetric opposite cartouches, foliate motifs, unfold. The heart of these decorations is enriched by a finely chiseled background with cross-hatched crosshatching (lattice pattern), which catches the light, creating a vibrant contrast with the shiny parts. From this center elegant volutes opposite to a 'C' and an 'S' emerge, merging with stylized acanthus leaves and small elements with beadwork.
The frame profile adopts a strong inward flaring, projecting the viewer’s gaze toward the center.
Adjacent to the space intended for the artwork runs a supremely refined continuous band carved with a motif of flowing volutes and stylized waves. This detail serves as a perfect visual transition element between the richness of the frame and the hosted canvas.
The finish cleverly plays with bronzing techniques. The raised parts are finished with warmer, brighter gold tones, while the recesses and the reticulated backgrounds receive a dark patination (faux bolo effect) that simulates natural aging and gives the solemn appearance of antique frames.
This is an exemplar of notable scenic impact and excellent execution, a true artistic extension capable of ennobling the enclosed artwork. The robustness of construction, combined with the extraordinary richness of details and the preservation state, makes it an extremely versatile piece. Ideal for galleries or apartments able to enhance an old or nineteenth-century painting, as well as for transforming it into an exclusive and sumptuous dressing mirror for high-representation environments.
