Description from the seller
The design of this upholstery fabric is a timeless classic, a tribute to the refinement of 19th-century furnishings. The pattern features alternating vertical stripes: ruby-red bands with a slightly satin finish and cream-colored bands adorned with small floral bouquets in delicate shades of pink and green. Delicate friezes and gold and brown ramage motifs complete the composition with a touch of French romance.
Quality and Features: The fabric is dense yet soft to the touch, perfect for upholstery that requires durability while maintaining elegance. The precise weave enhances the brilliance of the reds and the delicacy of the pastel hues, making this fabric ideal for classic or country-chic interiors.
Possible Uses:
- Perfect for reupholstering seating, headboards, screens, and boiserie in vintage or shabby environments. It is also highly regarded for substantial draperies, decorative cushions, or for creating a scenic backdrop in boutiques, studios, and country houses.
This type of fabric draws inspiration from the “conversation salons” of the French nobility in the 19th century. It is said that the Duchess of Berry, a great admirer of decorative arts, had a room entirely upholstered with floral red carmine stripes to celebrate the birth of her daughter. To this day, the room is visitable at Château de Rosny and remains one of the most fascinating examples of classic botanical-inspired upholstery.
