Description from the seller
This glazed earthenware vase is a creation of the Belgian manufacturer Boch Frères La Louvière, produced during the post-war Art Deco period. This model features shape number 1489 and bears the cataloged decoration number D 5152, a style typical of productions placed under the artistic direction of Raymond Chevalier, the successor of Charles Catteau. The base includes these references handwritten in liquid gold as well as a typical black circular manufacturer stamp, although the latter is very partially faded. The exterior decoration consists of a central band of stylized coral-red roses set against a crackled cream-white background and surrounded by black foliage with stems highlighted in gold. The top and bottom parts of the body feature a solid salmon-pink hue outlined by horizontal golden lines. Two solid ear-shaped side handles entirely gilded complete the silhouette. The measured dimensions are 18 cm in height, 12 cm in diameter at the neck, and 16 cm in total width including the handles. The total recorded weight for this piece is 750 g. Regarding its condition, the vase shows normal signs of age-related wear with visible loss of gold mainly around the rim of the neck as well as on the relief of both decorative handles, while the cream glazed surface retains its original regular crazing without any cracks or chips."}{
