“My work, my life and my artistic ambitions form a whole.”
René Burri.
From Richard Nixon’s America to Fidel Castro’s Cuba, the iconic images of Swiss photographer René Burri bear witness to the extent of his oeuvre and the richness of his experience.
This collection devoted to René Burri’s work gathers about 160 photographs taken between 1950 and 1983. But it is much more than a traditional collection: the artist here seeks to describe his universe, embracing both his life experiences and the way he expressed them.
The book is punctuated with various artistic creations by the photographer, notably collages and drawings made during his childhood. René Burri witnessed the great events and the great figures of his era, among whom Che Guevara, President Nixon, Picasso and Pablo Casals. His photographs of Germany’s postwar reconstruction marked the starting point of a new photographic exploration, which later developed in his works taken in Cuba, Egypt, China, Japan, and many other countries photographed by Burri.
Fast and meticulous shipping. (Cardboard and bubble wrap. Corners protected). Option of in-person pickup in Paris.
