Chinese Carved Wooden Box – Elaborate Figural & Architectural Scenes – 26.5 cm
Beautiful decorative Chinese carved wooden box, richly ornamented with detailed traditional figural and architectural scenes.
The exterior is extensively decorated with deep relief carving and openwork, depicting numerous figures within traditional Chinese settings, surrounded by pavilions, buildings, trees and floral motifs. The different levels of carving create an attractive three-dimensional effect and demonstrate considerable attention to detail.
The rectangular box stands on four small turned feet and is fitted with a hinged lid. The front features a decorative metal keyhole escutcheon, while the interior is finished in natural wood and provides a spacious storage compartment.
The carved decoration continues around the exterior and across the lid, making the box highly decorative from every angle.
It may be used as a jewellery box, keepsake box or decorative collector's piece.
