Description from the seller
Faenza Majolica Tableware Service
"Garofano" - C.A.C.F. (15 pieces) - Like new with certification
Splendid and refined artistic Faenza majolica table service, entirely hand-painted with the iconic and renowned "Garofano" decoration. This ornamental motif from the eighteenth century draws inspiration from Oriental chinoiserie and is characterized by rich floral elements in cobalt blue, ochre, and orange tones.
The set was produced in the second half of the twentieth century by the prestigious manufacturer
C.A.C.F. (Cooperativa Artigiana Ceramisti
Faentini), as evidenced by the original mark printed on the back of each piece.
The service consists of a total of 15 pieces:
• 1 Large platter / center piece with multi-lobed design (diameter 32 cm)
• 6 Large flat plates (diameter 23 cm)
• 6 Dessert/fruit plates (diameter 21 cm)
• 2 Soup plates (diameter 24 cm)
Certification and Authenticity: On the back of the smaller plates is present the historic original red stamp of Ente Ceramica Faenza (Produzione Classica Garantita). This institutional mark of origin officially certifies that the work was entirely hand-made freely by master maiolists and that it fully meets the high standards of Faentine craftsmanship from the late 1970s / early 1980s.
Conditions: The service is in immaculate, like-new condition and has never been used. The front surface, the glossy glaze, and the rich motifs of all 15 pieces are perfectly bright, intact, and totally free of signs of wear or cutlery marks. The wavy rims show no chipping or fraying.
There is a minor note only on the back of the 32 cm large plate: a small circular area where the underlying clay color shows through. This is a characteristic and authentic firing flaw originating from the refractory supports (tripods) used in the kiln to prevent the glaze from sticking. This detail is irrefutable proof of entirely handmade artisanal craftsmanship and is not a sign of wear. A collectible set in exceptional preserved condition.
The lot will be packed with maximum professional care (each piece individually protected with generous bubble wrap inside a reinforced box) to ensure safe, trackable, and insured shipping throughout Europe.
