This exceptional duo comprises two carefully cut and high-gloss polished spheres of petrified wood, whose impressive natural grain patterns provide a fascinating glimpse into the history of this special natural material.
The two spheres display a beautiful play of colors in warm brown, beige, honey, gold and reddish tones, complemented by dark mineral areas and contrasting natural lines. The original wood structure remains impressively visible in the characteristic grain patterns and banded markings.
Particularly fascinating are the natural, tree-ring-like structures, wood fibers, color transitions and mineral veins, which create a wholly individual pattern on each sphere. The different markings make each side look like its own section from a petrified tree trunk.

It is fossil wood dating back about 200 million years, all parts from a log or branches have been silicified, meaning that organic components were gradually replaced by silicon in the form of jasper, chalcedony and more rarely opal. Without the organic parts, all the living matter was replaced by stone: there are growth rings, cell separations, almost like worm cracks.
Its features are those of the mineral that would have pseudo-transformed the wood: the silicon.
And that’s what we call petrified wood in common language.
