A Basque culture-themed chess set, with a wooden board in red and white tones (traditional motif) and a red lacquered frame that opens like a box/couch to store the pieces, lined inside with black velvet with individual compartments for each piece. The 32 pieces are made of cast metal (bronze/copper aged look and pewter/silver tin, thus distinguishing the two sides), representing characters and scenes from Basque folklore and rural sports (herri kirolak), such as stone lifters, rowers with oar (arraunlariak), figures with beret and traditional clothing, a woman with rope/jump rope, and scenes with draft animals like a yoke of oxen as larger pieces (possibly towers or kings). Complete set with all 32 pieces present and a functional board, with patina and signs of use typical of its age, preserving a very good decorative and collectible appearance.
