Unis France Lanterna Magica da Proiezione per Lastre, good physical condition and tested and working.
Description from the seller
Up for auction: a fascinating, rare and extraordinary piece of pre-cinematographic optical history—a Magic Lantern for antebellum projection produced in France for the prestigious industrial consortium UNIS France, dating from the late 1910s or early 1920s. This exceptional historical scientific instrument is presented mounted on its original solid wood base and is enriched by the metal plaque of the renowned Swiss historic dealer Carl Bittmann.
The lot presents in good overall condition and is mechanically functional, complete with its upper protective metal-painted case and an antique wooden slide-frame.
Optics: The lantern mounts its imposing and original frontal projection objective enclosed within the fully chromed telescopic barrel. The lenses are structurally intact and free from deep scratches or breaks; only a normal, widespread, light vintage patina due to the century-old age is evident, entirely expected for a piece of this era.
Aesthetics: Good vintage condition overall, as clearly documented by the photographs. The substantial rectangular wooden base retains its warm original finish, showing the classic and normal superficial signs of aging.
Tracked international shipping, fully insured, and professionally ultra-protective packing with cushioning materials to ensure maximum safety of the optical compartment during transport.
