Reliquary pendant of Saint Jeanne de Chantal – 19th century - France
Oval 19th-century reliquary pendant, in silvered metal, containing under glass a relic identified by its old label “…de Chantal”, attributed to Saint Jeanne-Françoise de Chantal (1572–1641).
The back is ornate in relief with the Virgin and Child, surrounded by a Latin inscription.
Suspension ring allowing it to be worn as a pendant.
Saint Jeanne de Chantal founded in 1610, with Saint Francis de Sales, the Order of the Visitation of Holy Mary. She was canonized in 1767.
Nice old condition, with patina and signs of use consistent with age
