Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
Rocaille-style 19th‑century jardinière of brass/metal from France, dating to 1850–1900, with an oval lobed body, relief decoration, a removable zinc liner, four curved feet, and one missing lateral wing, measuring 35 cm wide by 22 cm deep by 20 cm high, in fair condition with natural patina and age-related wear.
Description from the seller
Important Rocaille-style jardinière / centerpiece (Jardinnière) from the Rocaille period, 19th century (c. 1870–1890) – Napoleonic III period.
Exterior structure in bronze/brass decorated with relief; removable inner basin (soul) original in zinc.
Jardinière of oval shape with lobed contours, richly adorned with Rocaille-inspired motifs. The body is elaborately worked in relief with volutes, cartouches, shell motifs, and stylized foliage. It features an upper gallery with cut-out, openwork design. The sides are equipped with imposing wing-like handles with vegetal scrolls fused into the decoration. It rests on four curved feet integrated into the base decoration. The interior includes its protective liner in gray metal, essential for water retention.
Overall good condition, showing natural patina of age and slight wear due to time. The inner liner has normal oxidation marks from use. It has slight dents and, unfortunately, one of the side wings is missing.
The measurements refer to the jardinière itself; I did not include the wing.
