Description from the seller
Pair of Andre T. armchairs, designed by the celebrated Czech designer and architect Bořek Šípek (1949–2016) and produced by Scarabas in 2001.
The Andre T. model is a representative example of Šípek's postmodern design, characterized by sculptural forms, decorative details and a strongly theatrical aesthetic.
The chairs feature a contoured backrest upholstered in Bordeaux velvet, decorated with distinctive X-shaped stitching. The seat is padded and upholstered in black, while the bombé and ruched arm details constitute one of the model's most distinctive elements.
The combination of the organic shapes of the frame, the Bordeaux velvet and the black upholstery creates a strong aesthetic contrast, typical of Bořek Šípek's eclectic and neo-baroque language.
A piece of design particularly characteristic, suitable for contemporary, eclectic or collectible interiors.
