Rare Russian-Orthodox chest or blessing cross of the Old Believers (Starowjaren)
This impressive cast-brass cross is distinguished by its richly decorated front and back, as well as its beautiful, age-appropriate patina.
Type: Russian-Orthodox three-bar cross / Old Believers tradition
Front: Detailed relief depiction of the crucified Christ. In the upper section there are representations of God the Father (Sabaoth) and two adoring angels. The bars are adorned with Church Slavic monograms and saints’ inscriptions.
Back: Fully covered with a fine cast inscription in Church Slavic script. This is the traditional Orthodox protection and cross veneration prayer.

Dimensions: approx. 16.8 cm (height) × 10.5 cm (width)
Condition: Very good antique condition with a beautiful, untouched patina and signs of aging. The details of the relief and the inscription are well legible. No cracks or repairs. Hanging eyelet at the top present.
