Description from the seller
Antique French Vieux Paris porcelain mantel vase - Louis-Philippe / Neorococo - ca. 1850
An elegant 19th-century French Vieux Paris (Old Paris) porcelain mantel vase (vase de cheminée). The vase features a striking fan-shaped bowl with a beautiful purple to lilac color gradient, richly decorated with hand-painted gold accents and floral motifs.
The lower section is adorned with classical handles in the neorococo / Louis-Philippe style, designed as gilded acanthus leaves and black glazed scrolls.
The back of the vase is traditionally left white with a gold border, which was typical for vases placed tightly against a fireplace mantel or mirror.
The underside bears a clearly stamped model number "373" and a small, hand-painted gold mark by the gold painter.
In good antique condition with normal, light wear to the gold fittings appropriate for the age. There is a chip visible on the inside of one of the waves at the upper rim (see detail photos). No other cracks or restorations.
The item is professionally and very safely packed to ensure a sound arrival. The vase will be shipped fully insured to the winning bidder, including a track-and-trace code to follow the package.
