Description from the seller
Authentic electric mine worker's lamp, presumably originating from Belgian mining and probably from the Liège region. The lamp was also purchased in Liège, which aligns well with the region's rich mining history.
This type of lamp belongs to the early generation of electric mine lamps that gradually replaced traditional open-flame lamps. The light source is located behind a glass shade and protected by a metal cage. The cylindrical metal bottom serves as a battery holder.
The lamp is made from several metals, including steel and brass, and features a sturdy吊 hanging hook at the top. The lamp bears the number 4306.
The Liège region had a significant coal mining tradition; historical mine lamps from Belgium and Liège were manufactured from steel, brass and glass among others and were specifically intended for underground use.
Condition: authentic, clearly used condition with oxidation, discoloration, scratches and other signs of age and use. The patina and wear suit the industrial history of the object. Functionality is unknown and not tested. See the photos for a full view of the condition.
A characterful piece of Belgian industrial heritage, interesting for collectors of mining memorabilia, vintage lighting and industrial objects.
