Description from the seller
SPAIN. Cádiz. 2 Reales. 1811. Ferdinand VII (1808-1833)
- Value: 2 Reales.
- Reign: Ferdinand VII (1808-1833).
- Year: 1811.
- Inscriptions: Obverse: FERDIN · VII · DEI · GRATIA · 1811. Reverse: HISPANIARUM REX · 2 R · CI.
- Grade: AU58 (GBCA).
Silver 2-Reales coin minted at the Cádiz mint during the Spanish War of Independence, in the name of Ferdinand VII. The obverse shows the laureate bust of the monarch looking to the right, executed in a sober and elegant neoclassical style, surrounded by the royal inscription and the date. The reverse presents the crowned shield of Spain with the quarters of Castile, León and Granada, accompanied by the 2 Reales denomination and the mint and assayer marks. The reliefs retain much of the original detail, especially in the portrait, the crown and the shield, with minimal wear consistent with very limited circulation. The fields display an attractive natural silver tone with traces of the original luster and very slight surface marks typical of handling in its era. A very attractive specimen with excellent visual presence, representative of the issues struck in Cádiz during the conflict against the Napoleonic occupation, one of the most pivotal periods in Spanish monetary history.
Disclaimer: For orders shipped outside the European Union, I want to make absolutely clear that I ship from Spain, which means that if the package is sent to any country outside the European Union, and/or inside the EU that has a special tax agreement (example: Canary Islands), it might be stopped at your local customs and you might be asked to pay taxes. This is a customs legal procedure and it is completely out of our control. Thanks for your understanding.
