Ceramic 19th century Canton porcelain plate with a gilded bronze stand, titled Chinese Canton porcelain plate with gilded bronze stand, featuring Guǎngcai export decoration with figures, peonies, birds and butterflies, in good condition with minor glaze loss along the rim and a patinated bronze base.
Description from the seller
A late Qing Dynasty Canton-decorated (Guangcai) export porcelain platter, featuring characteristic gilt-accented enamel work. The surface is adorned with multiple cartouches depicting figures and narrative scenes set in Chinese garden courtyards, interspersed with lush patterns of peonies, birds, and butterflies; the gilding is rich and intricate. It is paired with an antique European Rococo-style gilt-bronze tripod stand, featuring openwork floral and scrolling foliage motifs—originally commissioned for display in European aristocratic homes.
Condition: An antique piece bearing a natural patina of age. There is minor glaze loss along the rim, with natural wear to the enamel and gilding; the bronze base shows a mature patina and slight wear to the gilding, but remains structurally sound and stable.
Provenance: From a private European collection.
Notes: The photos show the actual item; it is sold "as-is." Worldwide shipping is available; the buyer is responsible for all customs duties and import fees. Please examine all photos carefully before bidding.
Dimensions: Porcelain platter diameter approx. 20.5 cm; total height including bronze stand 10 cm.
