Description from the seller

Philips "Black Tulip" High Fidelity System Rack (1979) | Complete 4-Module Rack: AH370 DC, AH270, AH170 + Rare AH070 Control Unit | Original Collezione Condition

ATTENTION COLLECTORS AND AUDIOPHILES: A UNIQUE AND IRREPEATABLE OPPORTUNITY.

We are putting up for auction a piece of absolute continental hi-fi history: the legendary Philips "Black Tulip" Complete Rack from the late 70s (1980). Not scattered components gathered over time, but a coordinated, single-brand system originating from one owner, lovingly preserved and complete with its iconic 19-inch professional rack fins.

1. Philips 160 Switch Unit (Power Distributor)

Main function: Control unit for centralized management and power-up of the various components of the system.
Features: Main switch on the front and service outlets on the rear panel to clean the cabling and switch on the entire system safely.

Philips 170 AM-FM Stereo PLL Tuner (Tuner)

Frequency bands: FM (87.5 - 108 MHz) and medium wave MW (531 - 1602 kHz). Tuning technology: Phase-locked loop (PLL) for maximum frequency stability.
Indicators: Backlit analog scale and signal strength indicator

Philips 370 DC Power Amplifier (Final Power Amplifier)

Output power: 60 W RMS per channel into 8 Ohms (some measurements indicate up to 100W musical or peak). Frequency response: Extremely wide, from 5 Hz to 200,000 Hz (DC configuration for faithful bass reproduction).
Total Harmonic Distortion (THD): Less than 0.01%. Signal-to-noise ratio: > 95 dB.
Front panel: Dual backlit analog VU meters to monitor left and right channel power, selector for two speaker pairs (Speakers A / B) and headphone output.

Philips 270 Stereo Pre Amplifier (Preamp)

Frequency response: 15 Hz - 25,000 Hz. THD: < 0.1%. Available inputs: Phono MM (turntable), Tuner, Tape 1 (Rec/Play), Tape 2 (Rec/Play).
Outputs: Dual Line Outputs (Pre-Amp Out) for connection to traditional power amps or Philips active speakers of the MFB series (Motional Feedback).
Audio controls: Volume, Balance, Bass and Treble. Tape noise filter (High Filter), hum/Rumble filter (Low Filter), and Loudness function. Stereo/Mono selector and Audio Mute (-20dB).

The matte black brushed aluminum front and the warm backlighting of the analog VU meters create a magnetic stage presence, capable of dominating any modern or vintage listening room.

COMPOSITION OF THE RACK (4 COORDINATED MODULES):

Philips 22AH370 – DC Power Amplifier: The muscle of the system. A pure direct-coupled power amp, famed for its spectacular amber VU meters and a warm, dynamic, incredibly detailed sound.

Philips 22AH270 – Stereo Pre Amplifier: The brain. A very high-level audiophile preamplifier with an exceptional Phono stage for your turntable.

Philips 22AH170 – AM/FM Stereo Tuner: The voice. Analog radio tuner with reception precision and signal stability of another era.

Philips 22AH070 – Power Switch Unit (THE 90-PIECE!): The original power management unit of the Black Tulip series. A component of absolute rarity on the used market, indispensable to power the entire system with a single, spectacular centralized click.

Cosmetic condition: The unit presents itself in the conditions visible in the photos, preserving all the charisma and minimalist charm of the original design.

Technical note: Because this is a vintage, ultra-high-end Hi‑Fi component that has been idle for a long time, the system IS SOLD FOR REVISION. A small maintenance, internal cleaning, or recap by a specialized technician will allow this audio giant to roar again, ensuring you the extraordinary performance it was designed for.

Don’t miss the opportunity to bring home an authentic "Black Tulip". A safe investment, a display piece, and a listening experience that is simply impossible to replicate today.
