Description from the seller

The Roots of Irpinian Excellence
Taurasi Radici Riserva is the emblem wine of Mastroberardino, the label that wrote the history of Aglianico and Taurasi DOCG around the world. Born from the selection of the best grapes from the historic vineyards in Irpinia, Radici Riserva represents the qualitative summit of the winery: a wine with austere and noble character, capable of facing time with grace.

The 1998 vintage, characterized by a hot and dry summer, concentrated the sugars and polyphenols of Aglianico in an exceptional way, yielding a wine of great structure and complexity. In the glass it presents a deep ruby red, almost impenetrable, with garnet reflections. On the nose it opens to notes of wild blackberry, plum brandy, dried plum, with an elegant spice set of black pepper, cinnamon, and clove, and a mineral backdrop of graphite and volcanic earth. On the palate it is powerful, enveloping, with dense and velvety tannins and a vibrant freshness that promises a longevity of more than thirty years.
