Description from the seller
Decorative repoussé brass dish
This decorative repoussé brass dish was made in the 19th century, more precisely during the Historicism period (between 1865 and 1890), under the Second Empire (Napoleon III) or at the very beginning of the Third Republic
The manufacturing method: Repoussé / stamped metal
This dish is not a solid cast piece poured in a mold, but was made in repoussé or mechanically stamped brass. A thin sheet of brass was pressed or hammered against a die (a steel or bronze mold engraved in relief) to give this shape
This type of decorative dish was not produced by a single great sculptor, but by ateliers of dinanderie and industrial art foundries of the second half of the 19th century (mainly under the Napoleon III period and the Third Republic in France).
It is a semi-industrial production work, very common at that time, characterized by several elements
Motif: Vercingetorix

Era: 19th century
Materials: Brass
Dimensions: diameter 41 cm, depth 2.5 cm, weight 300 g
With a small ring on its back to be able to mount it on a wall
