VEB ALS Sonneberg veterinary anatomical model of a cow, dating from the late 1950s to the 1960s, made of composite with a green base, in good used condition with signs of wear and age, dimensions 63 cm high, 44 cm wide, 30 cm deep.
Description from the seller
Large veterinary anatomical model of a cow – VEB ALS Sonneberg – GDR
Important veterinary anatomical model of bovine, produced by VEB Anatomisches Lehrmittelwerk Sonneberg (ALS) in East Germany (GDR), in the second half of the 20th century.
Presented in sagittal section, this instructional model accurately shows the internal anatomy of the cow: skeletal structure, musculature, vessels and different organs, several elements of which are detachable. The exterior represents the animal's flank with its udder.
The model rests on its original green-painted base, bearing the label with the VEB ALS logo, a mark of the Anatomisches Lehrmittelwerk Sonneberg, a manufacturer specializing in human and veterinary anatomical models. This company historically stems from the former Marcus Sommer – SOMSO workshops of Sonneberg, nationalized in the GDR.
The base also bears the handwritten inscription “IG 13-03-023”, presumably an old inventory number from an educational establishment or collection.
Scientific, large-scale model, particularly decorative and sought after for a collection of scientific instruments, vintage medical and veterinary equipment, or a cabinet of curiosities.
Condition: good overall used condition, with signs of use, small wear and alterations corresponding to its educational use and age. See detailed photographs.
Origin: Sonneberg, East Germany (GDR)
