Description from the seller
Giuseppe Quintarelli – Rosso del Bepi Veneto IGT 2005
Prestigious bottle of Rosso del Bepi 2005, produced by Giuseppe Quintarelli, one of the most iconic and sought-after wineries in Valpolicella and Italian winemaking.
The 2005 vintage has earned 95/100 points from Robert Parker – The Wine Advocate, with Monica Larner’s evaluation published in 2017. Parker highlights the wine’s surprising freshness and precision despite its age, underscoring its potential for further evolution in the cellar.
Rosso del Bepi is produced in vintages when the winery decides not to make Amarone. In 2005, in fact, the vintage conditions led Quintarelli to skip Amarone, while recognizing in the grapes a quality potential sufficient to create a great wine.
The wine is made with a traditional blend featuring Corvina/Corvinone, Rondinella, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes undergo a long withering period of about four months, and the wine is subsequently aged for many years in large Slavonian oak casks.

Wine and winery history
Rosso del Bepi is one of Quintarelli’s most distinctive labels. The name is dedicated to Giuseppe Quintarelli, and the wine is produced in vintages when the estate chooses not to produce Amarone.
The 2005 vintage is thus particularly interesting: a severe hailstorm reduced yields, while the grape quality was considered sufficient to produce a Rosso del Bepi of great quality, but not for Amarone. All the vintage’s potential was therefore concentrated in this wine.
Vinification involves an withering period of about four months and a subsequent long aging in large oak casks. A source from the same estate’s distribution indicates about eight years of aging in oak barrels for 2005.
The result is a wine of great complexity, with aromas of dried cherry, wilted rose, dark fruit, spices, leather, and balsamic notes. On the palate it offers structure, concentration, and mature tannins, while maintaining surprising freshness.

Despite its age, Rosso del Bepi 2005 retains notable freshness and, according to Robert Parker’s assessment, still possesses significant potential for further evolution in the bottle.
It is therefore suitable for immediate tasting, preferably after a good aeration, as well as for aging for additional years under optimal cellaring conditions.
