Bohemian Art Deco green pressed-glass vase from the 1930s, about 22 cm high and 9 cm in diameter, possibly by Rudolf Hloušek, with a square foot and a tulip-shaped neck, crossed relief bands forming a diamond pattern, signed CZECHO-SLOVAKIA, in good vintage condition with minor wear and a chip at the foot.
Description from the seller
Bohemian Art Deco vase in green Bohemian glass from the 1930s. The vase has a square foot that gracefully transitions into a sleek neck and flares into a tulip shape. The vase is decorated with crossed relief bands in the characteristic flowing Art Deco movement. The intersections of the bands form a beautiful, even diamond-shaped pattern.
The vase is signed on the bottom of the foot with CZECHO-SLOVAKIA.
This vase may be by Rudolf Hloušek (1909–1992), a prominent Czechoslovak glass artist and entrepreneur who is world-renowned for his high-quality Art Deco Bohemian glassware. In 1930 he founded his own glass-finishing company in Železný Brod, which later grew into one of the leading studios for artistically cut and engraved glassware. After World War II, the company was nationalized by the communist regime in 1948 and incorporated into the state company Železnobrodské sklo (ŽBS), bringing an end to the independent business.
The vase is in good vintage condition but has some wear at the base and a chip (see the last photos). The photos are an integral part of the description.
Dimensions: Height 22 cm – diameter 9 cm
The vase is packed very carefully and shipped with track & trace.
