Benelli Leoncino 125 from 1951, to be restarted, without registration papers, 999 km, frame L-9060, located in central Italy.
Description from the seller
Benelli Leoncino 125cc year 1951
Adjustable, swivelling rear telescopic shock absorbers (only first series)
Single-cylinder, 2-stroke engine, air-cooled
Motorbike fully preserved; original paint. Ignition coil replaced. Inner tubes and front tire replaced, carburetor rebuilt and cleaned. After these workshop interventions, the motorcycle has remained idle in a protected environment since 2020. Maintenance and restoration work may be required.
The Leoncino, as per the chronological extract, had a single owner and is deregistered in the PRA in 1988 for non-payment of the stamps/taxes.
The documentation set is complete: license plate; registration certificate; supplementary sheet; chronological extract; Visura from the Polizia di Stato for a plate not involved in any report. (see photo).
For the historical profile it is worth noting that this Benelli model follows, shortly after, the “Letizia 98,” the first light motorcycle produced by the Company, after the war years. It is useful to cite, in this regard, what is present in Motociclismo magazine of 13 October 1951 - pp. 33 / 34
“… As we have said, the frame remained unchanged, except for the quality of the tubes, which, subjected to higher load due to the brilliant performance of the 125cc engine, are now chromium-m molybdenum steel…”.
The chromium-molybdenum alloy was subsequently (many years later) used by Moto Guzzi for a limited series of the V/7 Sport: the famous red frame.
The motorcycle is sold as a collectible object, not currently suitable for free circulation on the road, due to lack of the necessary functional and documentary requirements.
The motorcycle is transferred and delivered in its current state of preservation, at its storage location in Rome. The organization, the costs and the responsibility for any shipment of the vehicle and of any accessories are understood to be the buyer’s responsibility.
Delivery of the vehicle directly to the buyer (Italian or foreign) or to the designated carrier will be made only after the parties sign the sale deed drafted in Italian or English and accompanied by copies of valid personal identification documents.
