Specimen Turbo Marmoratus, a vortex of mother-of-pearl from Tahiti, hand-finished and polished, dimensions 168 × 166 × 132 mm, weight 480 g, scientific name Turbo Marmoratus.
Description from the seller
Turbo Marmoratus – Mirror of Mother-of-Pearl — Polished and smoothened shell with utmost care to reveal the hidden wonder: a vortex of mother-of-pearl with green reflections, pink and iridescent changing shades, which seems to cradle within it the breath of the Tahitian sea. Belonging to the species Turbo Marmoratus, a tropical sea gastropod, this specimen has been selected for its exceptional quality and for the perfectly developed mother-of-pearl veining, visible thanks to a finishing process carried out entirely by hand. The spiral, so perfect as to seem a symbol carved by time, evokes the cyclicality of nature and the slow unfolding of marine energy. The basal area preserves part of the original structure and offers a color contrast with the blue-green of the natural oxidations: an authentic signature of the ocean. An object that goes beyond a simple shell: organic art, natural sculpture, mirror of the deep. Ideal as a collectible item, for cabinet de curiosités, spaces dedicated to design or meditation. Every detail tells the story of a distant place and of the time that, patiently, has forged it.
