Specimen: Turbo marmoratus, a polished Tahiti monumental shell, weighing 549 g with dimensions 158 × 131 × 125 mm, originating from Tahiti.
Description from the seller
Polished – Tahiti — Monumental shell of the Turbo marmoratus species, coming from the warm, crystal-clear waters of Tahiti, polished to enhance the natural luster of mother-of-pearl without altering its original external structure. Keeping intact the living essence of its shell, every relief, every striation, every chromatic variation. The dominant tones shift between turquoise-green, coppery brown, and pearly white, in a visual play that recalls the sea currents that wrap tropical seabeds. The interior, naturally smoothened by the animal itself, reflects a soft, warm light, with delicate pearlescent rainbows that seem to shimmer with the slightest movement. This shell is an organic sculpture, an ocean-signed work, perfect for sophisticated interiors, naturalist studies, or spaces dedicated to contemplation. Turbo marmoratus has been known since ancient times for its extraordinary mother-of-pearl, used in many Pacific cultures for ritual ornaments and talismans. The name “Turbo” derives from the Latin and means “whirlpool,” in reference to its powerful and perfectly symmetrical spiral. Each shell is unique, and this specimen in particular stands out for its size, brilliance, and colorings, representing a perfect synthesis between nature, art, and time.
