Description from the seller
Vintage Silver 925 Salt and Pepper Pair Fish Shape 1920s/40s – Two-Tone Glass Eyes
Description:
Splendid and rare vintage salt and pepper shaker pair in the shape of a fish, entirely crafted in solid silver with a 925 hallmark clearly stamped and legible on both pieces.
This pair dates from the period between the 1920s and 1940s (Art Deco era). They are high-quality dining objects, highly sought after by collectors for the wealth of engraved and relief details that faithfully reproduce the scales, mouth, and fins.
The pair stands out for the evocative and vivid colored glass cabochon eyes: one fish has red eyes and the other green. This fascinating period touch historically helped diners distinguish the contents at a glance (traditionally the green eye indicated salt and the red eye pepper).
Technical Specifications:
• Material: Solid Silver 925 / Sterling Silver (guaranteed by the hallmark on both pieces)
• Era: 1920s – 1940s
• Length: about 7 cm for each piece
• Total weight: about 100 grams for the pair
• Details: Two-tone glass eyes (Red and Green)
• Mechanism: Original screw-on bottom, intact and fully functional, with excellent seal for spices.
Condition of the item:
The pieces are in excellent overall condition, solid and structurally perfect, with no dents or deformations. They show the classic charming signs of age and a beautiful natural silver patina that enhances their authenticity and historical value (intentionally not polished to a mirror finish to preserve the vintage character).
A touch of great class for formal tables, vintage silver collections, or elegant residences and maritime-inspired settings.
