Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
Rare early 20th‑century scientific demonstration set for electromagnetism, Faraday induction and electrical resistance regulation, dating to circa 1900–1910, comprising seven objects made from cast iron, copper, brass, wood and glass with dimensions about 25 cm wide, 40 cm deep and 50 cm high; in reasonably used condition with some parts possibly missing, untested and shipped disassembled due to size.
Description from the seller
Rare and expressive didactic scientific set from the early 20th century, intended for the study and demonstration of electromagnetism phenomena, Faraday induction, and regulation of electrical resistance in a physics cabinet or laboratory.
The set is composed of:
Pair of Large-Scale Vertical Coils / Solenoids:
Coil with Green Insulation: Mounted on a metal rod with a heavy black-lacquered cast iron tripod base. It features spherical brass/metal terminals on top for electrical connection.
Transparent Didactic Cylinder: Glass/acrylic tube mounted on a vertical rod, containing an internal conductive winding and copper wiring with green silk/cotton insulation at the base.
Toroidal Practice Rheostats (2 Units): Circular variable resistances mounted on rectangular bases of noble wood, with spiral contacts, metal rotary selector knobs, and binding posts.
Current Switch / Inverter: Circular wooden/bakelite piece with upper binding metal posts for circuit switching.
Additional Accessories:
Small auxiliary coils, connectors and a black rectangular mounting support.
Technical Details and Condition
Origin: France / Central Europe. Epoca: Circa 1900–1930.
Materials: Brass, cast iron, wood, copper, glass and Bakelite components.
Condition:
Good cosmetic and general condition, preserving the original patina and all major structural elements. Natural signs of use and aging consistent with the era (wiring with occasional insulation wear). Parts have not been functionally tested. One of the coils has loose wiring. The photographs are part of the description.
Auctioned as a historical collection/display object.
Due to the size of the pieces they will be shipped dismantled in the larger elements.
