Mboko - Luba - DR Congo (No reserve price)

Cup-bearer Mboko – Luba – Democratic Republic of the Congo
Important Luba female figure carved in wood, depicted seated, legs extended in front of her and holding with both hands a richly decorated ceremonial cup.
Probably from the Lukuga/Kabalo region (Kalemie)
Beautiful brown-black patina nuanced with reddish tones on the reliefs, with wear, cracks and old damage visible especially beneath the legs.
Former Brussels private collection.
