AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Temple of Jupiter in Baalbek - splendid and refined original photographic image, printed on albumen paper, sepia-toned, mounted on antique cardboard, created around 1865, attributed to the famous French photographer Felix Bonfils (1831-1885), who between 1861 and 1864 undertook many journeys to Lebanon, producing wonderful photographic images.

The rare beauty of the photograph depicts the remains of the six imposing Corinthian columns of the surviving Temple of Jupiter in the very wealthy city of Heliopolis, present-day Baalbek. The monumental complex, famous for the grandeur of Imperial Roman architecture, is protected as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The photo is in good condition with minor signs of use and slight aging, consistent with objects that have crossed almost 150 years of history.

The photos will be carefully packed and shipped by courier.
