Rare and unusual KLM collectors item: the Gouda Cheese Weighing Scale.

Offered is a fine KLM Kaaswaag from Gouda, a special edition within the well-known Delft Blue KLM house figurines collection.

This miniature of the historic Cheese Weighing Scale on the Markt in Gouda was issued from 1995 by KLM as a wedding gift to passengers traveling in Business Class on intercontinental KLM routes during their honeymoon. The Cheese Weighing Scale came in place of the famous Palace on the Dam. The onboard issuance was terminated around 2000; remaining pieces later entered the collectors circuit.

This piece concerns the first edition of the Kaaswaag. Characteristic of this early edition is the text on the underside:

On the back it states:

The house is executed in the characteristic Delft blue ceramic and depicts the historic Gouda Cheese Weighing Scale, the building where cheeses were traditionally weighed.
