Description from the seller
Mimmo Jodice - Inner Past
Contrejour, 1993
Bound with jacket, new in shrink wrap
"The places are always the same; you only have to change register, and each situation, each stone, each figure presents itself with a different dimension, suspended and surreal, available for a more intimate approach." Mimmo Jodice
"The entire work of Mimmo Jodice is a prolonged gaze at fiction, sometimes melancholic and sometimes full of purity. (...) Mimmo Jodice no longer photographs living humanity but the ancient humanity turned into sculpture, painting, icon."
Roberta Valorta
Beautiful and rich selection covering the period 1966-1993: 105 full-page black-and-white photographs, distributed among Forms, People, Places and Time, taken mainly in Naples — "Naples is the photograph," writes Mimmo Jodice — but also in Almeria, Arles, Sully-sur-Loire, Montréal, Capri, Pompeii, Barcelona, Syracuse..
Visible Cities (2009)
An ancient prestigious university, Federico II of Naples, which dispenses honors sparingly (in the last five years only Alvaro Siza has deserved so much), awards a photographer an honorary degree in Architecture. Mimmo Jodice, among the most significant protagonists of contemporary photographic culture, frankly states that the revelatory encounter with photography has changed his thinking, his life, his work. From a forty-year search "in pursuit of a Beauty that appears increasingly betrayed" and from a passionate investigation into Architecture, Jodice gathers in this book a selection of portraits of some capitals, inspired by the cities themselves, almost to convey to the future their urban identity. A citizen of the world who has never severed his bond with his homeland, Naples, between the computer and the advent of digital photography ("in the meantime I observe and reflect"), he always uses the same camera with manual film advance, fond of his darkroom where he prints all his photos, Jodice teaches how to see architecture, with sensitivity, passion and simplicity.
Mimmo Jodice (2010)
Published on the occasion of the exhibition presented by the Maison Européenne de la Photographie in Paris, from 14 April to 13 June 2010. 28.5 x 28.5 cm
