AI-assisted summary
Description from the seller
CANON AE-1 Black + New FD 50mm F1.8, tested and working.
Hello from Japan!
We provide high-quality cameras and lenses to the world.
The Canon AE-1 (1976) is the camera that made the 35mm SLR a mass-market object. Its microprocessor-controlled shutter-priority automation was a genuine first, and Canon's advertising pushed it into millions of hands — it remains one of the most beloved and recognisable film cameras ever built. Fully usable in manual as well as automatic, it takes the extensive Canon FD lens range and is offered here in the less common black finish with the New FD 50mm f/1.8 standard lens.
Important — please read carefully:
The lens has slight haze from balsam separation and the battery cover is cracked. Please review the photos before bidding.
Condition: Used — Good
Pre-owned, heavy signs of use, or minor optical flaws
Serial Number
Please check the photo.
Appearance
Scuffs and scratches from normal use. Please check the photos for details.
Optical Condition
Lens: Slight haze from beginning balsam separation
Viewfinder: Cleaned inside
Functional
The meter and shutter work; measured shutter speeds are accurate.
Light seals replaced and viewfinder interior cleaned.
Measured Performance
We check these cameras on a shutter tester rather than by ear, and we publish what we measured:
- 1 s — measured 1/0.9 s (approx. 0.2 stop slow)
- 1/60 — measured 1/58 s (on the mark)
- 1/1000 — measured 1/948 s (approx. 0.1 stop slow)
Negative film has enough latitude to absorb deviations of this size, but the figures are here so you can judge for yourself.
Servicing
This camera was serviced by us before listing:
- Light seals (foam) replaced
- Viewfinder cleaned internally
Known Issues
1. Slight haze in the lens caused by beginning balsam separation.
2. The battery cover is cracked; please open it carefully.
Bundled Items
Only what you can see in the pictures will be included in the package.
