Description from the seller
Glasfabriek Leerdam - Sybren Valkema - Balustervaas - Glas Leerdam Unica vase VB11
Netherlands - Art Deco 1960-1970
This is a vintage handmade glass Leerdam Unica vase with characteristic pulled points, designed by the renowned Dutch glass artist Sybren Valkema for Glasfabriek Leerdam between 1960 and 1970.
The vase features an organic form with a striking purple-white speckled powder pattern enclosed in thick, clear crystal glass. On the front, the original, triangular factory sticker from Royal Leerdam is still visible.
That this Leerdam Unica vase is exactly 22 cm tall and is hand-signed on the bottom confirms its authenticity as a unique, one-off glass artwork from Glasfabriek Leerdam.
For an object from the Unica series (produced between 1960 and 1970), the engraving with a diamond pen typically looks as follows:
"Leerdam Unica": The official serial name for unique studio pieces.
Designer code or monogram: VB 11 is the specific model number or object code of this Leerdam Unica vase.
Unica vases with this specific size, the characteristic pulled points, and the original factory sticker are highly sought after among collectors of Dutch design.
There is a small depth mark at the lower front in the seam; see photos 12 & 13. In my view, it is a production-related imperfection and one microchip. Both are not visible at all when the vase is standing.
