AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Antique walking cane made during the blossom period of Chinese export silver in the late Qing Dynasty / early Republic era (ca. 1890–1920).
The conical handle is a masterpiece of traditional artisanal smithing. It was crafted by hand from the inside out with real repoussé embossing on the outside in detailed relief. The surrounding, three-dimensional relief depicts a classic Asian storytelling scene with traditionally dressed figures, including a lady with a fan, embedded in a landscape of bamboo groves, palms, and traditional architecture. The top of the knob closes with a fine floral pattern.
On the lower silver band there is a well-preserved, cartouche-shaped maker’s mark with the initials “PS” – a typical sign for renowned silversmiths and export houses of this era, which produced for the Western market.
The slender round shaft is made of noble, dark ebony.

• Overall length: approx. 87 cm

Condition:
The walking cane is in a beautiful, age-appropriate original condition with charming, authentic patina on the silver. The hardwood shows a fine, true ebony drying line; a small break that has been repaired (see pictures, they are part of the description).
