Description from the seller
Gien - Serving Plate - iconic Decor « Rouen 32 »
Mid century.
Bring charm and authenticity to your table with this elegant serving platter from the renowned Gien earthenware manufactory, "Rouen 32" pattern.
Rouen 1932 pattern is a benchmark in tableware; it's a classic. This motif has existed since the 1930s.
Rouen pattern, an iconic design no longer in production. This pattern, which has been produced over the years, perfectly embodies the expertise of the renowned French pottery, celebrated for the delicacy of its motifs and the exceptional quality of its glazes.
The iconic style characterised by Renaissance and Louis XIV inspired motifs: A blue shade presenting rich decorations of tapered lambrequins, hanging draperies and symmetrical plant rinceaux.
Its blue monochrome decoration on a off-white (blanc cassé) background consists of a central floral medallion and an elegant frieze, in the refined style of late 19th-century French earthenware. This model is distinguished by its rare raised border, seldom seen on serving dishes.
Created during the 19th century by the French manufacture Gien, this graphic design pays tribute to the traditional earthenware of the city of Rouen from the 18th century.
The plate is stamped with the Gien mark (the logo stamp of factory dates between 1940 and 1960)
