Description from the seller

Elegant antique round tablecloth dating from the 1950s, made in fine natural white raw linen. The piece is a masterpiece of bygone craftsmanship, fully handmade with floral embroidery and lavish filet crochet inserts. Origin: Florence. In period trousseaux it served to cover the dining room table when not in use.

The item is kept in excellent condition: it has no stains, pulled threads, halos, or fabric tears. It has a diameter of 160 cm and weighs 925 grams; the fabric is high-quality raw linen in a natural white color.

Details of the Central Body and the Crochet
• Central Rosette: a circle with a diameter of 65 cm outlined by openwork stitches;
• Central Insert: delicate 3 cm high crocheted lace decorates the inner disk;
• Connecting spokes: from the center emerge 4 geometric crochet inserts (6 cm wide and 30 cm long) that elegantly connect the heart of the tablecloth to the outer ruffle.

Hand Embroidery: delicate floral motifs depicting yellow roses with green leaves.
There are 8 embroidered motifs in total, symmetrically arranged along the body of the tablecloth: each bouquet measures a full 19 cm. The whole is finished with a sumptuous final ruffle, 23 cm high, of continuous filet crochet lace.

The design of the ruffle features floral motifs (56 flowers with leaves, each about 10 cm tall), which lend a harmonious movement and a strong visual impact to the drop of the table, making it very elegant, refined, and unique. A tablecloth that required skilled hands and many hours of work.
