Duijs has photographed 30 dancers immersed in nature. He describes the project as follows:
Who are these people willing to give everything for their art? When you are seated in a theater watching a dance performance, you see bodies in motion. The dancers appear almost anonymous, interchangeable in the eyes of an external observer. I photograph them up very close, as they dance and improvise outdoors, immersed in nature; as they do what they deeply love. I capture the moment in which they reveal their vulnerability.
The dancers I have photographed are mostly students and former pupils of ArtEZ, a degree program in modern and contemporary dance. They form an extremely heterogeneous group: men and women of different nationalities and ethnicities and — a trait not always taken for granted in the world of dance — with different body types.
