Description from the seller
Set of 6 Baumann chairs – France – 1960s – Mid-Century design / Scandinavian inspiration
A very beautiful and elegant set of six authentic vintage chairs from the French manufacturer Baumann, a renowned furniture house founded in France in the early 20th century.
Dating from the 1960s, these chairs perfectly illustrate post-war French Mid-Century design, strongly influenced by Scandinavian aesthetics: clean lines, light and elegant proportions, slightly inclined tapered legs, and high open backrests with fine vertical rungs.
Mostly made of beech, Baumann’s emblematic wood species, they feature a very warm honey-brown finish that highlights the natural grain of the wood. The wide, slightly curved seats offer a particularly harmonious silhouette.
The backrest consists of seven fine vertical rungs, topped by a curved and ergonomic upper rail.
The four tapered, spread legs give the chairs their characteristic silhouette of French furniture from the 1950s-1960s.
Under the seat there are Baumann markings, indicating their origin and constituting an important element for collectors of French vintage furniture.
The set is particularly appealing due to its uniformity and the presence of six specimens, allowing for an immediately complete ensemble around a dining table.
Dimensions of each chair: approximately 87 cm in height × 41 cm in width × 41 cm in depth.
